Is Spring here at last?

The rain has stopped and despite a cold wind we have had some very welcome sunshine in this little corner of the country.
It is now 9 years since mr digandweed and I took on our allotment and a little overhaul was called for.
Some of the original wooden raised beds had rotted and were a hiding place for slugs, who crept out at night to feast on the fruit and veggies!
So, the raised beds on one side have been cleared away and we are left with one big space for onions, beans, peas etc.
Now I can't wait to get sowing and planting!

Despite all the work on the allotment, there has still been time for baking and
I can recommend this recipe for pear, cinnamon and almond loaf from the Waitrose website.

A delicious loaf, which was especially nice served with a dollop of crème fraîche.

On a more serious note, 2020 is proving to be a year of unprecedented challenges with severe flooding affecting large parts of the country and now the looming threat of Coronavirus.
Have you seen the heartwarming videos of Italians singing to each other from their windows?
 'Andrà tutto bene'
Hoping that wherever you are, you are able to stay safe and healthy and that all will be well

  2. Can't believe you've had the 'lottie' for 9 years! We're still waiting for the weather to dry up here in the west, as yet another day of low cloud & drizzle looms! On the plus side the garden is growing well without my attention with lots of blossoms of different sorts appearing ... and we're well. Keep safe.
