Autumn days..
We are enjoying an Indian summer in this little part of the world.
I love these sort of days; days which begin with a bit of a chill and a slight mist and then turn out warm and sunny. Just perfect!
The garden is having a late summer surge too, with the dahlias in full swing and others, like the roses, having a second flush of flowers.
On the lottie, things are slowing down but there is still lots to harvest.
The charmingly named Pink Passion, swiss chard from The Real Seed Company has been producing an abundance of deep green leaves with vivid pink stalks for months now- so easy to grow, practically pest free, beautiful, nutritious and versatile- what more could you want!
Mr digandweed and I have been putting handfuls of the raw leaves into our green smoothie each morning, but it can also be chopped and stirred into practically anything.
This was our brunch the other day:
A couple of handfuls of chopped chard gently wilted in a little olive oil with a clove of garlic, a teaspoon of smoked paprika and a few cherry tomatoes, then stirred through steamed brown rice and topped with a steam fried egg.

Quick, simple and delicious!
I'm finishing writing this just as Bake Off starts.
Has anyone been watching? What do you think?

Lovely chard. I haven't watched Bake Off since it left the BBC, I'd be interested to know if it's good. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteI must admit I have largely lost interest in Bake Off since it went to Channel 4. Some of the challenges seem to be so contrived, but younger daughter still watches and we like to exchange thoughts and have a giggle via text when it's on. :)
DeleteMust admit I haven't bothered this season with Bake off. Your meal looks so tasty, yum!
