pancake day

Pancake day or Shrove Tuesday, traditionally the day to use up rich foods such as eggs and butter before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday.

Pancakes are easy to make and fun to cook. especially if you have a go at tossing them!

Pancakes can be sweet or savoury.

Sweet, they can be served with all sorts of things: jam, chocolate, fruit to name just a few ...
but my favourite way is still good old lemon and sugar.

How do you like yours?

  1. We had the fluffy american style ones this morning, with golden syrup too!

  2. I like mine vegan! The recipe I used involved making a flax 'egg' and the pancakes were so much better than the vegan ones I made last year. Had three for lunch with maple syrup and blueberries. The others here will be having regular American type ones with maple syrup and butter.

  4. Can you believe it- we didn't have any here at all. However, I did go to a Pancake Race which was a hoot, and much less calorific.

  5. I made my first EVER crepes yesterday! They didn't look as beautiful as yours but they were tasty.

  6. Lemon and sugar every time! I love pancakes - we have them maybe one Sunday a month. Although I should use fresh lemons like you did. Lovely photos!
